OMG PD: Odd Crimes in Our Patch Region

This week: A tennis court rumble, a stressed out shoplifter and a completely bizarre weapon

Local police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.

Where’s the love? 

Two people got into an argument at a Morton Grove tennis court. The victim stated the offender threw a water bottle and threatened to kill him. The offender denied stating he would kill the victim.

A taxi driver picked up a man from O’Hare Airport and drove him to a Northbrook park. The man left and walked east through the ball fields and woods without paying his $55 fare, according to police.

An iPhone car charger and several swimming medals were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the garage of an Oak Park home.

A woman was attacked in the common area of her Skokie apartment building because she grabbed two sale flyers from the mail instead of one. According to police, another tenant struck the victim in the left shoulder, stating she was only entitled to one flyer. The victim told police she planned to throw out the flyers, as nobody ever collected them.

A witness told police he saw a car driven by a 31-year-old Arlington Heights man sitting at a pump at the in Oak Park. Moments later the car rolled into the gas station office. Police found the driver unresponsive and broke a window to get him out. Police said narcotics were later found in his system.

A Northbrook man who allegedly shoplifted $840 worth of items from in Skokie said he took the items because he was “stressed,” according to police.

Two women keyed a Jeep and put gum all over it in Evanston.

A customer was waiting in line at a Skokie gas station when an unknown person struck him from behind. The suspect then beat the victim with an orange plastic caution cone, took the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene.
