Park Ridge Teen Shot Himself With Gun Given as Christmas Present

A Chicago man was has been charged with reckless conduct after his son accidentally shot himself in the leg.

A Chicago man faces criminal charges after his son shot and injured himself with a gun that was given as a Christmas present, the Park Ridge Herald Advocate reported.

Joseph Streff, 52, was charged by Park Ridge police with reckless conduct for providing the gun to the teenager, the newspaper reported. The 14-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the leg on Jan. 6 and the injuries were not life threatening, the newspaper reported.

The shooting occurred in a home in the 2700 block of Mayfield, Park Ridge, and Park Ridge police did not release information until Monday, chicago.cbslocal.com reported.
