Two Charged In Staged Robbery At Hookah Lounge, Police Say

An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

ARRESTS

Michael Marrougi, 19, of Skokie, and Moustafa Abdel-Salal, 23, of Chicago, were charged with felony theft, and Abdel-Salal was also charged with making a false police report, on Oct. 21. Morton Grove police said they staged a fake armed robbery at the Arguila Hookah Lounge at 6323 Dempster.

Abdel-Salal, the manager, reported being robbed at knifepoint as he closed the Hookah Lounge for the night, according to the report. Marrougi, based on a general description, was stopped by a Morton Grove officer and found to be in possession of the property reported stolen. The two eventually admitted to staging the robbery so they could split the money taken from the business, police said. Marrougi was charged with felony theft while Abdel-Salal was charged with felony theft and felony disorderly conduct for making a false report. Their court date is scheduled for Dec. 2 at the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
