Police Blotter: Arrests for home repair fraud, attempted theft and DUI

The police department has provided the following reports. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

"Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty," according to a statement from police Cmdr. Michael Fujara. All information comes directly from police reports.

Home Repair Fraud

Antony Miller, 21, of Mt. Prospect was charged with home repair fraud July 27 after he promised to fix a driveway in the 7400 block of Wilson Terrace and knowingly used unsuitable materials.

Attempted Theft

Michael Higgins, 25, of Chicago was arrested July 30 after he attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase items at Kappy’s Restaurant & Pancake House, 7200 W. Dempster St.

Retail Theft

Kristopher Korinek, 18, of Mundelein was charged with retail theft July 28 after he was seen stealing a socket from the Menard's store on 6300 Oakton Ave.

Driving under the influence

Joseph Tucker, 19, of Evanston was arrested for DUI after he was stopped for traffic violations July 31 at the intersection of Dempster Street and Waukegan Road.

Batsaihan Sandag, 51, of Wheeling was arrested for DUI and driving with a revoked drivers license after being stopped for traffic violations July 27 at the intersection of Oakton Street and River Drive.

Brendon Skinner, 21, of Mt. Prospect was arrested for DUI after he was stopped for traffic violations Aug. 3 at the intersection of Waukegan Road and Emerson Street.

Driving without a license

Maria Aguilar, 36, of Chicago was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license after she was involved in a car crash July 31 in the 6500 block of Dempster Street.

Jose Arce, 30, of Chicago Subject was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license after she was involved in a car crash Aug. 1 in the 6900 block of Dempster Street.

Jolanda Miakiewicz, 31, of Niles was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license after she was involved in a car crash Aug. 2 at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Morton Avenue.

Driving while license suspended

Kevin Williams, 45, of Chicago was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license after he was stopped for traffic violations Aug. 2 at the intersection of Central Avenue and Dempster Street.
