Police Blotter: Pot Possession Arrest, Home Intrusion, Fraud

Police arrest 17 people over the last week.

"Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty," according to a statement from police Cmdr. Michael Fujara.

Marijuana possession arrest

Victor Betancourt, 24, of Skokie, was charged with cannabis possession on Feb. 8. At the time of his arrest, Betancourt was a passenger in a vehicle that police stopped for traffic violations in the 6800 block of Dempster Street.

Charged with driving offenses 

Manuel Perez, 36, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license after police stopped his vehicle in the 6800 block of Dempster Street on Feb. 9.

Shamka Smith, 27, of Chicago, was stopped by police at the intersection of Dempster Street and Waukegan Road. He was eventually charged with driving without a driver’s license on Feb. 10.

Martina Brown, 26, of Waukesa, was arrested on Feb. 11 and charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license after police stopped the vehicle in the 5500 block of Dempster Street.

Ejaz Rajput, 40, of Glenview, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police stopped his vehicle at Harlem Avenue and Shermer Road on Feb. 12.

Ricky Morrise Jr., 19, of Davenport, IA, was arrested on Feb. 12 and charged with driving without a driver’s license. Police stopped his vehicle in the 9300 block of Waukegan Road.

Humerto Apolonic, 30, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving without a driver’s license. His vehicle was pulled over by police at Dempster Street and Athletic Drive.

Abigail Ramirez-Jimenez, 23, of Chicago, was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license after the vehicle was stopped by police at Dempster and School streets on Feb. 13.

Randy Clamana, 42, of Niles, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license after police stopped his vehicle at Golf Road and Overlook Drive on Feb. 13.

Peter Abraham, 49, of Niles, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license. Police pulled his vehicle over at the intersection of Oakton Street and Caldwell Avenue on Feb. 14.

Everado Valdez, 21, of Chicago, was arrested on Feb. 15 after his vehicle was stopped at Central Avenue and Lake Street. Police charged him with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

Vladimir Dobre, 24, of Chicago, was arrested on Feb. 15 after he was pulled over in the 8700 block of Shermer Road.  Police charged him with operating a vehicle without a driver's license.

Guillermo Sinisterra, 23, of Chicago was arrested on Feb. 16 and charged with driving on a suspended license. His vehicle was pulled over in the 7000 block of Beckwith Road.

Denise Burris, 45, of Evanston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence on Feb. 17. Police stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Dempster Street and Athletic Drive.

Retail theft

The CVS drugstore at 5945 Dempster St. reported to police that a man left the business without paying for three bags filled with cosmetics on Feb. 8.

Jose Ramirez, 24, of Berwyn, was arrested on Feb. 8 after he was caught on a security camera stealing items from a hardware store at 6301 Oakton St.

Jerry Vandoros, 57, of Park Ridge was arrested on Feb. 16 after he was observed on a security camera stealing nails from a hardware store at 6301 Oakton St.

 Burglary, home intrusion

Hardware electronics and accessories were stolen from a residence in the 9200 block of Marion Avenue on Feb. 12.

A resident reported Feb. 12 that the back door handle was knocked off at the house in the 9400 block of Oketo Avenue. Items were also moved inside.

Credit card fraud

A credit card owner reported unauthorized purchases to police. Apparently, the card was used to buy items over the Internet on Feb. 15.

Violators cited

Jeremy Fillicetti, 21, of Skokie was arrested at 8530 Waukegan Rd. on Feb. 13. He was taken into custody for putting graffiti on a light pole and was issued a citation.

Police saw an occupant open liquor inside a vehicle in the 6100 block of Dempster Street. on Feb. 13. The offender was issued a citation.
