Police Blotter: Retail Theft, Criminal Damage

Miscellaneous crimes in Morton Grove.

The following items are taken from the Morton Grove Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Oct. 12
Theft - An unknown offender took money from a victim’s purse which was left on the counter next to the cash register on the 7000 block of Dempster Street.

Nov. 17
Sorry about that - At a business located on the 6000 block of Oakton Street, store security physically stopped the suspect/victim believing that a theft was occurring. It was later discovered that no theft occurred and that there was no probable cause for a battery arrest.

Nov. 23
Criminal Damage to Vehicle - Unknown offender(s) broke the rear window of a victim’s vehicle located on the 6000 block of Lincoln Avenue.

Nov. 19
Theft - Unknown offender(s) took the victim’s furnace and refrigerator from the front yard on the 9000 block of Harlem Avenue which were left there after being replaced.

Nov. 19
Retail Theft - Unknown offenders took 6 bottles of liquor and exited the store without paying for them at a store on the 7000 block of Dempster Street.

Nov. 17
Theft - An offender was observed concealing a switch and batteries and exiting a store on the 6000 block of Oakton Street without paying for the items. Items were returned and the victim did not wish to sign complaints. The offender was cited under local ordinance for theft.

Nov. 18
Theft - An unknown offender took the victim’s cell phone from her gym bag while she was working out on the 6000 block of Dempster Street.
