Police Blotter: Scam Averted, Theft

Recent mischief in Morton Grove.

"Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty," according to a statement from police Cmdr. Michael Fujara. All information comes directly from police reports.

Scam Averted - An unknown offender called victim and identified himself as her grandson. The offender then told the victim that he was arrested and needed her to send him money for bail. The victim did not send any money and notified the police. 

Oct. 16 

Text Message Harassment - Offender was sending harassing text messages to victim.

Oct. 17 

Theft - Unknown offender(s) took victim’s compressor, which was being stored in a parking lot at 6100 Dempster St.

Oct. 14 

Purse Theft - Unknown offender(s) took the victim’s purse after she had forgotten it on the counter while paying for groceries at 7900 Golf Rd.

Oct. 17 

Wallet Theft - Unknown offender(s) took the victim’s wallet after he had lost it in a restaurant at 7200 Dempster St.

Oct. 18 

Liquor Law Violation - An anonymous complaint was called in regarding underage drinking at a bar at 9000 Waukegan Rd. After further investigation, two subjects were issued citations for underage drinking. The bartender and business were also cited.
