Police Blotter: The Other Michael Jordan, Stolen Bits

Officers arrested 10 people in the last week, one of whom turned himself in.

"Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty," according to a statement from police Cmdr. Michael Fujara.

On the road

Israel Maldonado, 22, of Niles was arrested and charged with driving without a driver’s license after police stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Church Street and Waukegan Road on Feb. 17.

Leonardo Miranda, 35, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and also for not having a valid driver’s license on Feb. 17 after police stopped the vehicle in the 8300 block of Caldwell Avenue.

Sergio Hernandez-Pozos, 42, of Morton Grove was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license after police stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Dempster Street and Lincoln Avenue on Feb. 18.

John Babani, 27, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license after police stopped him at the intersection of Narragansett Court and Dempster Street on Feb. 19.

Anselmo Martinzes, 27, of Mt. Prospect was arrested and charged with driving without a driver’s license after police stopped the vehicle in the 7800 block of Dempster Street. on Feb. 19.

Alberto Espino, 22, of Niles was arrested and charged with driving without a driver’s license after police stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Cleveland Street and Austin Avenue on Feb. 21.

Michael Jordan, 41, of Melrose park was stopped for traffic violations and arrested in the 8900 block of Waukegan Road on Feb. 22. Jordan charged with driving without a driver’s license. Jordan also had an active warrant, identifying him as a suspect in several thefts.

Raymond Zayas, 33, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license after police stopped the vehicle in the 8800 block of Waukegan Road. on Feb. 23.

Man turns self in

Johnny Palmer Jr., 32, of Skokie turned himself into the Morton Grove Police Department for an outstanding warrant on Feb. 16.

Retail theft

Ramon Doruelo, 50, of Chicago was arrested and charged with retail theft after he was allegedly observed via security camera stealing drill bits from a hardware store at 6301 Oakton St., on Feb. 20.

An unknown offender unlocked the security windows of a store in the 5700 block of Dempster Street and took multiple items from inside on Feb. 22.

Theft

A saw was stolen from a job site in the 5500 block of Lincoln Avenue on Feb. 21.

Vehicle break ins

A computer was reported missing from a vehicle parked at 7860 Lehigh Ave., on Feb. 17.

Unknown offender(s) broke into two trucks parked in the 6300 block of Monroe Street and pried the ignitions in an attempt to steal them on Feb. 18. The offender also stole multiple tools from the trucks.

Home invasion

Unknown offender(s) kicked in the garage door at a residence in the 6600 block of Foster Avenue., on Feb. 23. Nothing was found missing.

Vandalism

Unknown offender(s) spray painted a park district swimming pool liner in the 9200 block Oriole Avenue on Feb. 23.
