Police Blotter: Theft from Vehicle and Religious Burglar

Recent mischief in Morton Grove.

"Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty," according to a statement from police Cmdr. Michael Fujara. All information comes directly from police reports.

 

Oct. 24 
Stealin’ on a Prayer - Unknown offender entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle, which was parked in the driveway at 9400 Oriole Ave., and took a car stereo and a set of Catholic rosary beads.

Oct. 27 
Thieves Plan Ahead - Unknown offender(s) took two outdoor air conditioning units from the rear of the victims’ businesses at 6000 Dempster St.  

Oct. 20
Theft: From Motor Vehicle - Unknown offender(s) broke the passenger-side window of the a vehicle, which was parked in the driveway at 7700 Palma Ln., and took a Garmin Nova navigation system.

Oct. 21
Motor Vehicle Theft: Recovered - A Morton Grove Police Officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle parked in the 8100 block of Austin Ave. A license plate check revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen from Chicago. The Chicago Police and the registered owner were notified.

Oct. 22
Burglary Attempt - Unknown offender(s) attempted to gain entry into a garage at 5500 Church St. by using blunt force on the service door, splintering the door jamb. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Oct. 23
Theft From Motor Vehicle - Unknown offender(s) broke the driver-side window of a vehicle, which was parked on the street at 7500 Beckwith Rd., and took a radar detector.

Oct. 23
Burglary - Unknown offender(s) forced entry into the victim’s home at 7600 Beckwith Rd. through a garage service door. Jewelry and cash were taken.

Oct. 25
Burglary Attempt - An unknown offender approached a woman while she was outside of her residence at 8100 Parkside and asked for gasoline for his stalled vehicle. The woman did not have any gasoline, and walked back to her house. She observed another unknown offender pulling on the back door of her neighbor’s house. The offender then jumped over the fence and attempted to gain entry into her home. The offender fled when she yelled at him.

Oct. 27
Burglary: Residential - Unknown offender(s) entered a home at 9400 Oliphant St. by prying open a kitchen window. They took two pairs of earrings.
