Police Blotter: Traffic Arrests, Fill 'Er Up and Flee, Screen Lifting

Officers arrested five people over the past week and logged six incidents of vandalism.

"Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty," according to a statement from police Cmdr. Michael Fujara.

On the road

Charles Davis, 23, of Addison was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license at the intersection of Dempster Street and Oak Park Avenue after police stopped his vehicle for traffic violations on March 9.

Itiren Sitftit, 55, of Skokie was arrested for driving with a revoked driver’s license on March 8 after being stopped by police for traffic violations in the 6700 Block of Dempster Street.

Norman Astudilio, 23, of Niles was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license on March 8 after police stopped him in the 8600 block of Waukegan Avenue for traffic violations.

Carmen Lucra, 48, of Chicago was arrested for driving without a driver’s license in the 9300 block of Harlem Avenue after police stopped her for traffic violations on March 7.

Retail theft

Atanas Kolev, 31, of Morton Grove was allegedly seen on a security camera in a hardware store at 6301 Oakton St. stealing wires and screws on March 9. He was arrested by police.

Theft

A toolbox was stolen from the garage in the 8300 block of Major Avenue on March 6.

A woman had her purse stolen from a shopping cart while she was loading her car outside a store in the 7300 block of Dempster Street on March 8.

A man filled up his vehicle with gasoline at a gas station in the 9500 block of Waukegan Road and drove off without paying on March 8.

Property damage

Windows were intentionally broken on the side of house in the 8700 block of Narragansett Court on March 3.

A marker was used to deface two municipal signs in the 5400 block of Warren Street on March 3.

A brick was apparently used to smash the windshield and rear window of a vehicle on March 4. The incident occurred in the 8800 block of Sayre Avenue.
