Police Chase Teen After Gun Threat In Morton Grove

A juvenile held a gun to a victim's head, police said, leading to a police chase through Morton Grove and Skokie.

Police cars were zipping down Gross Point Road and there was a police presence in the area, from eastern Morton Grove to western Skokie, around 6:30 p.m. Monday, a resident on Gross Point Road reported.

Police were searching for a juvenile who placed a gun against the head of another person during an incident in the 5400 block of Warren in Morton Grove, Commander Paul Yaras of the Morton Grove Police Department said Tuesday morning. No shots were fired, he said.

Morton Grove officers and investigators went to an address in Skokie and arrested the male juvenile who had the gun, he said. Officers recovered the gun, which turned out to be a realistic looking BB gun. Yaras said another arrest is imminent for the juvenile, who damaged a car and punched another juvenile during the same incident.

A group was present during the incident when the gun was used to threaten the victim, Yaras said, and police also sought a second juvenile, who was arrested Tuesday morning. Both are from Skokie.

Skokie Police Sergeant Libit said Monday night that Skokie police officers assisted Morton Grove police in the search, and indicated the subject of the search was taken into custody.

Yaras said the incident was not gang-related, but police are investigating whether it was related to drugs.
