Police Disperse 4 a.m. Crowd Outside Niles Bar After Disturbance

People had exited the bar and were staying in the parking lot. In other reports, a laptop was stolen from a car and a cell phone was taken.

 

 

Niles police responded to a liquor establishment in the 8800 block of Milwaukee Avenue just after 4 a.m. on April 7, for a report of a large group of people standing outside causing a disturbance.

The disturbance had apparently stopped when police arrived, but they found a large group hanging around in the parking lot. Because of the number of people, Morton Grove police provided assistance in dispersing the crowd and helping the business's employees to usher out patrons. Police were investigating.

Cell phone taken from locker room; victim tracks it

A victim who was working out at a fitness center in the 9200 block of Milwaukee Avenue put his cell phone on a bench with his gym bag and got up to fill his water bottle, and the cell phone was missing when he returned, according to police reports. 

The victim said he saw the suspect in the locker room, and when the victim got back from getting water, he saw the suspect leaving quickly. The victim tracked his cell phone, which showed the phone moving near River Road and Irving Park Road. He was able to remotely lock his phone and told police he would contact his cell phone provider. Police were investigating. 

Laptop stolen from car

A man told police he left his laptop on the floor of his vehicle and parked in a parking lot in the 6700 block of Howard on April 4 at 5:20 p.m. When he returned at 6:30, he found the computer missing, according the report. Police said there were no signs of force on the vehicle. The victim said the car was locked.
