Police: Youth Slammed To Ground For Not Passing Basketball

Also, a report of an unresponsive person. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

In a battery case June 15 just before 7:45 p.m., a 14-year-old boy approached a couple walking in the park and asked them to call police. When police arrived, the 14-year-old said he had been playing basketball at Chesterfield Park with other local youths, and after he did not pass the ball to one of the players, a male with black hair, that male grabbed him and slammed him to the ground. Niles Fire Department Paramedics took the 14-year-old to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with a minor abrasion on his chin and right knee. The 14-year-old told police he had seen the offender before, but did not know his name. The victim's father arrived and said he would press charges if the offender can be located.
