A 43-year-old Palatine woman is accused of , according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.

Jennifer Curtis, 43, of the 300 block of N. Tanglewood Avenue in Palatine wrote checks, made electronic payments and forged electronic wire transfers from her grandmother’s financial accounts to pay for her own credit cards, loans, vacations, spending and much more, police officials said.

The statements , in addition to charges for restaurants, apparel, food, gas and even car payments, according to the sheriff’s news release.

 

Des Plaines

Woman Killed In House Fire

Des Plaines Police and Fire departments responded to a house fire in the 1000 block of Irwin Avenue shortly after midnight on Oct. 8, according to statements made by the departments on Monday.

The homeowner, later identified at Ronald Kauke, called 9-1-1 after discovering the fire, Fire Chief Alan Wax stated in an email to Patch, and, .

Kauke and a police officer who also entered the house to try and get to the woman inside were evaluated by paramedics on the scene for .

The woman, later identifed as in bed in a bedroom on the lower level of the house, and was taken to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, Wax stated. A pet dog also perished in the fire.

Inverness

Hunter Charged In Fatal Shooting Released

An East Dubuque man charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 44-year-old Inverness resident John Hanlon was released Oct. 11.

Charged with involuntary manslaughter, Kelly G. Jackson, 53, was sentenced to two years probation and 180 days of work release Aug. 2, according to Jo Daviess County court records. The work release sentence, which did not begin until Aug. 13, expired this week.

“I’m very frustrated and disappointed, disappointed with the sentence given the gravity of what happened,” said Leslie Hanlon, John’s widow.

Huntley

Police: Cab Carjacked At Outlet Mall

A 31-year-old Rockford man is charged with numerous felonies in an Oct. 11 car hijacking at Huntley Prime Outlet Mall, Huntley police said.

Christopher L. Mackey, of 1306 North Horace Avenue, is charged with vehicular hijacking, a Class 1 felony, robbery, a Class 2 felony and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony, police said. He was being transported to the Kane County jail.

Mackey was at bond call early Friday.

According to reports, a cab driver picked up a man in Hoffman Estates for a ride to Rockford, but the man asked him to stop at the Prime Outlet Mall in Huntley. There, the , police said. The cab driver had an undisclosed amount of cash in the vehicle.
