Shots Fired Near Skokie's New CTA Station
Almost a dozen squad cars responded to a shooting near the new CTA Oakton Stop in downtown Skokie. A picture shows about eight shots were fired at the scene. Police said there were no injuries.
About a dozen squad cars responded to a shooting near the new CTA Yellow Line station at Oakton Street and Skokie Boulevard, Skokie, around 5:00 p.m. Thursday, said Skokie police Sgt. John Moersfelder.
Witnesses told police that a male subject, standing on the north sidewalk of Oakton Street, displayed a semi automatic pistol and fired multiple times in the direction of a vehicle traveling westbound in the curb lane, police said. The offender then fled on foot from the scene.
The driver would ultimately stop a short distance from the initial shooting and both occupants were said to be uninjured, according to police. A total of eight shots were fired.

Meanwhile, police have detained a man that they believe is connected to the shooting, they said. The initial investigation is said to be a possible domestic dispute between the victims and the offender, police said.

Service on the Oakton Stop temporally stopped, but resumed about an hour later. The last police officer on scene left slightly before 7 p.m.
Hakim Wafaq, an employee at Marathon Gas Station at Skokie Boulevard and Oakton Street, told Skokie Patch that he did not hear any gunshots, but added that there was a lot of police activity around 5 p.m.
The CTA also noted that the alleged incident did not happen within the CTA Oakton Stop.
