Smoke at Niles Industrial Building Prompts Evacuation

Fire officials say the smoke was so heavy, it prompted an extra alarm the Journal & Topics reports.

Heavy smoke poured from an industrial on the 6000 block of Howard Street in Niles yesterday, forcing its employees to evacuate, the Journal & Topics reports.  

It happened around 2 p.m. at the building located at 6565 Howard Street. Fire officials say the smoke came from an overheated motor and prompted an extra alarm upon arrival, the newspaper reports. No flames were found and no injuries were reported.
