Tardy Employee Strikes Manager at Factory

Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A plant manager from a factory in the 7400 block of Lehigh called police Jan. 9 just after 9 a.m. to report that one of his supervisors had been battered.

A 31-year-old male employee arrived late to work, and his 37-year-old supervisor asked why he was late. The employee began yelling at the supervisor, police related, and the supervisor set out to talk with his own boss about the employee's aggressive behavior, but, according to the police report, the employee lunged at the supervisor. The supervisor blocked the employee from hitting him, but police said the employee nevertheless pushed the supervisor and threatened to hurt him. Other employees held back the offender and told him to leave. The victim (supervisor) told police he's concerned about the employee becoming aggressive if he is fired. The victim was not injured.
