Teen Set Five Fires And Stole Cars, Cops Say

He was charged with arson and other charges. Arrest information is supplied by the Morton Grove Police Department. An arrest is merely an accusation and does not indicate a conviction.

 

After Morton Grove police charged a 16-year-old with possession of a stolen car Saturday, an investigation led to charges of arson and additional thefts, including a second stolen car, according to a statement from Morton Grove Police Commander Paul Yaras.

During the investigation, police found property that belonged to other people along with items that related to ongoing fire investigations, according to the statement. The juvenile admitted during interviews that he was directly responsible for five fires in Morton Grove along with multiple burglaries to vehicles and two stolen cars, police said.

The 16-year-old was charged as a juvenile with five counts of arson, two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle and three counts of criminal trespass to a motor vehicle. He was released to his parents pending court review.
