Teens Stash Clothes, Charged With Theft

Marsean Hood, 18, of Northbrook was charged with retail theft Aug. 11 just after 4 p.m. when a security guard at a Golf Mill Shopping Center store saw him and a 17-year-old exit the store with unpaid items, according to police.

Hood entered a dressing room with a black bag that appeared to be empty and several items from the store, including two pairs of pants, two shirts and a belt, valued at $120, according to the report. When he exited, the security guard observed that the black bag appeared full while the dressing room was empty. according to police. The security guard also saw the 17-year-old take a shirt valued at $18 and place it in the black bag before both teens left the store, police said.

The 17-year-old was released to his mother, while Hood has a court date Aug. 24 at the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

Man steals $200 worth of appliances, police say

Andres Santana, 24, of North Monitor Avenue, Chicago, was charged with retail theft Aug. 12 just after 2 p.m. at a retail store in the 5600 block of Touhy, Niles. A security guard said he took an electric razor and electric toothbrush, with a total value of $199, from their display cases and exited the store without paying for them, according to police. 

A security guard said a young woman had accompanied Santana, but had left the area on foot, according to the report. Santana, who had her purse, said she was his girlfriend, and that she did not know what he was doing, police said. Police called her on her phone to ask her to return to the scene, but did not reach her. 

His court date is Aug. 21.
