On Dec. 11 at 10:50 a.m. police received a report of suspicious men walking near a neighbor's house. Police officers who responded to the call determined the men were committing a residential burglary.
Police said that as they arrived the two men fled from the house in different directions and the police officers gave chase. One suspect was taken into custody within a block.
Officers set up a perimeter and brought in a K-9 unit from Rosemont. The second suspect was found in the 1300 block of Bonita within minutes of the K-9 unit arriving.
Jonathon Resto, 21, of Chicago and Juan Jose Rea Jr., 25, of Chicago, were charged with one count each of felony residential burglary. Rea Jr. also was charged with one count of obstructing a police officer.
“This was a text book example of police and community working together to help keep the community safe” stated Chief Frank Kaminski. “It all started with a call from a neighbor who felt something was wrong and it was quickly brought to a successful conclusion by the professionalism, training and dedication of all of the officers involved, including the K-9”
Kaminski added “I am proud of our officers and cannot thank the Rosemont Police Department enough for their assistance. The amazing thing about law enforcement is that there is never any hesitation by one law enforcement agency to help another when something serious is occurring. Our camaraderie, common goals and spirit of cooperation are the greatest advantages we have over criminals.”
