Two Men Charged With Felonies For Debit Card Skimming, Police Say

Daniel Yordanov, 29, of Deland, Fla., and Mario Slavchev, 23, of Des Plaines, were charged with one count each of credit card fraud July 3 just before 7:45 p.m. at a bank in the 8500 block of Golf Road.

A witness phoned police advising there were two men who repeatedly approached the bank's ATM machine and then walked away, and the caller believed they might be skimming debit cards.

Police located the two men in the area and Yordanov told them he had been at the bank ATM to get money before attending a party.

A passerby flagged down police July 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the 6200 block of Howard Street, saying he had observed a man pulling a woman towards a car. Police spotted the vehicle, and a woman was walking away from it. When the officer spoke to the driver, he said the family had been on their way to a fireworks show when his wife and his mother got into an argument. When he stopped the vehicle, his wife, 29, of Chicago, got out and began walking home, according to the report. The husband said he got out, talked to her and asked her to get back in the car. The wife related a similar sequence of events. She said she wanted to walk home. Police did not observe any red marks or bruises on the wife; they separated the parties and issued domestic violence forms to both.
