Two New Niles Police Officers Graduate

Officers Koch and Dolan have completed 11 weeks of police academy, and now will begin on-the-job training.

The Niles Police Department is pleased to announce the graduation of Officer Kelly Dolan and Officer Christopher Koch at the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy, which is within the Homeland Security Center of the College of DuPage.

Officer Dolan and Officer Koch successfully completed 11 weeks of training in the Basic Police Academy Course. During the 11 weeks, the officers were given instruction in Laws of Arrest, Search and Seizure, Juvenile Law, Child Abuse, Drug Enforcement, Domestic Violence, Report Writing, Crisis Intervention, Traffic Enforcement, Traffic Crash Investigation, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, First Aid, Defensive Driving and Hazardous Materials. Officer Dolan and Officer Koch graduated on March 29, 2013.

The Officers will continue their training in the Niles Police Department while undergoing a 12-week field training program.

Officer Kelly Dolan is 26 years of age. Officer Dolan was born and raised in Chicago. Officer Dolan continues a long family history in law enforcement including her aunt and uncle, who are police officers in Chicago. Office Dolan commented that “being a police officer was something she always wanted to do.” 

Officer Christopher Koch is 26 years of age. Officer Koch’s home town is Barrington, Illinois. Officer Koch has wanted to be a police officer since his high school years. Officer Koch recalls a ride-along with a high school volley ball coach who was also a police officer. Once he had gone on the ride-along, Officer Koch stated, “I wanted to be a police officer from that day on.”

Chief of Police Dean Strzelecki stated that… “These two new officers represent the very best and brightest young adults that we can add to our ranks. We are proud to welcome them into our police family.”
