Two Teen Girls Throw Punches Outside Mall

The father of one contacted the police.

A teenage girl and her father came to Niles police March 21 to report that earlier that day, the girl had been attacked by another teenage girl outside Golf Mill Shopping Center. The father wanted the assailant arrested for battery.

The victim said the assailant hit her, unprovoked, on the back of the head with a drink can, then grabbed her hair, hit her and scratched her face. The victim said the two of them used to be friends.

When police contacted the assailant, she said she had seen the victim in the mall earlier that day and they called each other names. When she spotted her outside of an entrance to the mall, she said she threw coins at her, and they hit her in the face. The assailant said the victim punched her in the right eye and she received some scratches.

A witness said he heard noise and saw the two girls on the ground fighting, but could not say who started the fight.

After reviewing a footage from mall security, which was inconclusive, police advised the father his daughter was a mutual combatant and no further police action would be forthcoming.
