Wife Fears For Her Life

Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Fernando Lopez, 22, of Park Ridge was charged with telephone harassment and disorderly conduct Jan. 24 after his 22-year-old wife called police in tears. According to police, she said she had been talking to her husband on the phone when he threatened to come over and kill her. She is staying with a relative in Niles as she recovers from a vehicle accident. Police said the husband threatened to kill her whether or not police were present because "wouldn't it be cool to be killed by five cops." She also related that he has beaten her in the past but that she did not report it, police said.

Park Ridge police located the offender in Park Ridge, and transferred him to Niles police for booking. His court date is Feb. 28 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
