Wife Hit By Husband

Police said said it left visible redness and obvious marks. Arrest information is supplied by the Niles police department. An arrest is merely an accusation and not a conviction.

George Benevente, 51, of Niles, was charged with domestic battery Sunday just before 6 a.m. Police said the victim, his wife, reported that the two of them had gotten into an argument because he was jealous of her talking to another man. He then struck her several times on her chest and arms with his fists, police said. According to the report, she had visible redness and obvious marks on her chest and arms. Benevente's court date is May 9 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

Man charged with DUI after screeching-tire illegal turn

Cesar Garcia, 31, of Des Plaines, was charged with DUI after police observed him driving northwestbound on Milwaukee Avenue and making an illegal left turn onto Harlem Avenue April 21 at about 2:30 a.m., they said.

Police observed the odor of alcohol on Garcia's breath and he told them he had just left a club and consumed two Heineken drafts, police said. According to the report he failed standardized field sobriety tests.

He was cited for disobeying a traffic control device, screeching tires and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. His court date is June 8.
