Wife Tells Cops She Lives In Fear Of Husband

She called police after he allegedly punched and choked her.An arrest is merely an accusation and not evidence of a conviction.

 

A 50-year-old man from the 6800 block of Nora, Niles, was charged with domestic battery Saturday after police responded to a call from his wife just before 12:30 a.m. She told police her husband had been drinking and that they had had an argument. According to the report, she told police the argument escalated, and he punched her in the face and tried to choke her. Police said they observed red marks on her neck.

She also told police this has happend in the past, and she lives in fear for her life, according to the report.

Police tried to interview the husband, who was present, but he refused to answer questions and responded that they should ask his wife what happened, according to the report. The wife declined medical attention. The husband was due to appear in court Tuesday.

Ivan Albarran of North Ridge Ave., Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license Saturday just before 1 a.m. Police said they observed him driving 53 mph in a 35 mph zone of Dempster Street, and stopped him. A database check through the Secretary of State's office came back that his driver's license was suspended, police said. His court date is Oct. 3 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
