Woman Asks Husband To Leave, Charged With Domestic Battery

She had changed locks and was about to ask for an order of protection.

Maureen Dakhoul, 57, of Niles was charged with domestic battery after an incident Feb. 14. She told police her husband had pushed her in the back when they were alone in the house, and she told him to leave before walking out of the house to pick up the children from church. When she returned and he had not left, they began to argue and she told police she had had the locks changed and that she wanted to get an order of protection. The husband told police that when they were arguing the previous evening, because the recession had caused a strain on the family, that his wife made multiple attempts to grab his throat and may have scratched him. Her court date is Tuesday in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts. 

Man suffered seizure in Village Hall lobby

A man who suffers from occasional seizures and schizophrenia fell to the floor of the Niles Village Hall lobby Feb. 15 at about 9:15 a.m. The fall caused him to knock out a tooth. Park Ridge Fire Department personnel took him to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for treatment.
