$100 voucher stolen at Lucky Magee's

A victim reported a theft at Lucky Magee's, an off-track betting establishment at Golf Mill Shopping Center, Niles, on Wednesday Jan. 12. The victim placed a bet on a horse race and went to the machine to retrieve his winning ticket. He entered his information into the machine, a ticket came out, he walked away, then realized he hadn't retrieved a voucher for his $100 in winnings, which is needed to claim the winnings. He saw a man take the voucher from the machine and confronted him, asking for the voucher, but the man, described as a 45 to 55 year-old white male, about 160 to 170 pounds, said he didn't have it and walked away. Surveillance video showed the offender at the voucher machine and soon afterward at the cashier. The manager on duty said the offender is a frequent customer and he would try to rectify the situation the next time he came in.
