Woman Hits Another Car Head-On, Charged With DUI

She was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Milwaukee Avenue, police said. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of conviction.

The following information is taken from Niles Police Department reports.

Lisa Brettschneider, 50, of West Devon Avenue, Chicago, was charged with two counts of DUI Nov. 24 just before 11:45 p.m. An officer in the 6800 block of Milwaukee Avenue observed her black Jeep coming out of a private driveway and turning southbound into the northbound lanes of traffic, according to the report, and it struck another vehicle, driven by a man, head on. Brettschneider's vehicle traveled another 30 feet and came to a stop.

The officer smelled the odor of alcohol on Brettschneider's breath, according to the report, and she leaned against her car for balance. She showed impairment on field sobriety tests, the report indicated, and told the officer she had had three bottled beers. She was also cited for wrong way driving and failure to yield while turning left. A court date was not specified.
