Woman's Debit Card Bilked While At Casino

She wasn't even in Illinois, yet someone here tapped into her debit card. Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department. An arrest is merely an accusation and does not indicate a conviction.

While at a casino in Missouri, a Kansas City woman used her debit card at an ATM machine to withdraw funds. The victim, 49, later learned someone had used that debit card to purchase $320 worth of goods at a store in the 5600 block of Touhy, Niles.

Man charged with DUI, and driving on license revoked for DUI

Zbigniew Nowak, 57, of Des Plaines was charged with DUI, a Class 2 felony, and driving on a revoked driver's license, a Class 4 felony, after police stopped him April 2 at 1:45 a.m. while driving 54 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 8600 block of Milwaukee, police said. The officer observed Nowak swerve over the lane lines, according to the police report. The officer had lights and sirens activated to pull him over, but he did not stop until the 9400 block of Milwaukee, police said. The report indicated Nowak said he did not have a license or insurance, and that police detected the smell of alcohol on his breath. He showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests, and said he drank one Beck's beer, according to police. A database check showed Nowak had a revoked (for DUI) Illinois driver's license.
