Woman Scratches Grandma in Fight Over Sweater, Police Say

An arrest is merely an accusation and not evidence of a conviction.

Christina Souranis, 19, of Niles was charged with domestic battery Feb. 15 after police responded to her grandmother's residence just after 1 p.m. The grandmother, 76, said she and Souranis were arguing over a sweater Souranis refused to return, according to the report. Souranis pushed the grandmother in the chest and scratched her on her right arm, causing a small laceration, according to police. Souranis acknowledged there was an argument, but not pushing or scratching the victim.

Her court date is March 8 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

The person who called police said two young men in a car pulled into a parking space and, when they saw him, asked if it were his parking space. When he replied it was, they pulled out and parked further down the block. Police approached the car and noticed a strong smell of cannabis and a plastic bag of a green leafy substance visible in the car, they said.

They spotted and approached two young men similar in appearance to what the caller had described. Mansor told police he was the owner of the car and that the property belonged to him, according to the report. Police also found two glass pipes with residue in the glove compartment, as well as a prescription medicine-type plastic bottle with more suspect cannabis..
