Cashier Gives Customers Free Items, Fails To Ring, Police Say

Also, police said a woman was threatening a landlord trying to evict her friend. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

Davona Stevenson, 19, of West Flournoy Ave., Chicago, was charged with theft Jan. 6 at a store in the 8500 block of Golf Road, where she works as a cashier. According to the police report, a security agent at the store said he determined she gave a customer $250 in change when she was supposed to give $20, and gave the customer $79.86 in goods without ringing them up. Her court date is Jan. 23 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

Woman Threatens Landlord Trying To Evict Her Friend, Police Say

A Niles man told police he owns property in Chicago and has been taking steps to evict a tenant. For about three weeks, according to the report, he has been receiving almost-daily phone calls from a woman who says she is a friend of the tenant. On the calls, she threatens to "make trouble" for him if he continues with eviction proceedings, according to the report. A police officer phoned her, and she said she was trying to help her friend who was being evicted. The officer told her not to call the landlord anymore, and she agreed. Police filed a report; the landlord said that if the calls continue, he would be willing to sign complaints.

Patricia Soberanis-Meniola, 41, of North Lockwood Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving without a valid driver's license after police said she was involved in a traffic crash Jan. 6 on Central Avenue between Jarvis Avenue and Howard Street. Her court date is Feb. 24.
