Woman Turns Car Onto Train Tracks Instead of Street; Charged With DUI

Also, police investigated a report of a man exposing himself to children. An arrest is merely an accusation and not evidence of a conviction.

Michelle Ortac, 48, of Morton Grove, was charged with DUI June 9, just after 11 p.m.
She told police she had been trying to turn north on Lehigh, but instead she turned north onto the railroad tracks, and her Honda four-door car became stuck, according to the report.
When police arrived, she was sitting in the driver's seat of the vehicle, which was on the tracks; police said they smelled the odor of alcohol on her breath, they said. After notifying Metra to halt train traffic until the car could be towed off the track; Metra halted all inbound and outbound trains.

When police asked if she had had any alcohol, she said she had two beers, and slurred her speech, the report indicated. When the officer asked her to exit the car, she fell, had trouble walking, and had to hold on to the officer for support. Police said she showed impairment on standard field sobriety tests. The car was towed; she was also cited for blocking a railroad crossing.

Her court date is July 3 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.

Police Investigate Report of Man Exposing Himself to Children

Angelo Quintana-Valenzuela, 49, of Northbrook, was charged with driving without a valid driver's license June 10 just before 8 p.m.

Police responded to a call that a man was in a store in the 5700 block of Touhy Ave., and exposing himself to children, according to the report. The man was described as in his 50s and balding, wearing a black shirt and jeans; dispatch later advised officers he was heading east in a red GMC Envoy.

Police stopped his vehicle and the officer observed he had the button of his trousers open and his fly was unzipped halfway, but he was not exposed.
Two witnesses, a male and female in the store, positively identified Quintana-Valenzuela as the man they had seen in the store following the female around with his pants zipper down, though they never actually saw him exposed or committing any lewd acts. The male said Quintana-Valenzuela also tried to get the female's attention by whispering to her across a store aisle.

When police stopped Quintana-Valenzuela's vehicle, they asked for a driver's license, the report continued, and he produced an identification card from the Republic of Chile, even though, he told police, he has been here for five years.
His court date is July 23 in Skokie.
