Early Voting Draws 10,000 Voters Since Monday

Suburbs with hot races attracted the highest numbers.

Early voting heated up in Cook County this week, with 10,000 ballots cast from Monday through Thursday, and 3,500 cast on Thursday, when it shut down at 5 p.m.

Voters who didn't make it to Early Voting can cast their ballots Tuesday at their regular polling places.

The Niles area didn't have any of the hot races which pulled in large numbers of voters, such as a tax increase referendum on Wilmette's Centennial Ice Rink, which attracted 3,221 early voters in that town, or a contested race in Chicago Heights, which brought out 2,094 individuals, according to Cook County Clerk David Orr's office.
