Household Limit for Dogs Reviewed by Des Plaines

Currently, Des Plaines allows up to three dogs per household, the Chicago Tribune reported.

A Des Plaines resident has asked the city to consider increasing its legal limit of dogs per household from three to four, the Chicago Tribune reported. Currently there are no limits on the number of cats a household may have, and Michael Bartholomew, city manager, said he didn’t know why the city chose the limit of three for dogs, according to the report.

In August the city held a public meeting to discuss the viability of a new dog park to be built in Des Plaines. .

Also in August the Des Plaines Park District began allowing residents to bring their canine companions to all public parks, as long as they are on leashes and owners bring waste bags with to pick up after the dogs.

Not only should they bring waste bags, they should actually use them. 99% of us dog owners do.

I love dogs but the noise from constant barking can really be a problem. I live at Elmdale Condominums and sometimes I feel as though I live in a kennel that allows people. The dog owners make little or no effect to control constant barking day and night.
