Judge Favors Glenview In Water Dispute With Niles

An attorney for Niles said he might appeal a Cook County judge's ruling after court documents are reviewed.

A Cook County judge ruled in favor of Glenview in the ongoing water dispute with Niles, saying Glenview was overcharged by Niles between April 2010 and July 2011, though no overcharge amount was determined, the Journal & Topics reports

Patch previously reported that Niles issued a statement saying the Village of Glenview owes Niles more than $4 million in unpaid water bills and interest. It's also asking for $1.84 million in punitive damages from Glenview for what is termed as "fraudulently misrepresenting the reasons it refuses to pay the bills."

Glenview maintained that Niles violated the villages' water agreement by providing Niles residents with water for less than what they were charging Glenview — the intial water supply agreement was to provide Glenview with the lowest rate of any Niles water customer.
