Here's the full release:

Ben Schapiro, Director of the Morton Grove Public Library since 2005, resigned from the position on July 7, 2011.  Schapiro cited that he and the newly elected board had differing visions for the future direction of the Library.  Schapiro said he greatly enjoyed his tenure in Morton Grove.

“It has been a pleasure to work with the Library staff and board and to
get to know the people of Morton Grove.  I’ve much appreciated the
opportunity to enhance and expand services for our users and to broaden the Library’s relationship with other community institutions,” he said.

Under Schapiro’s direction, the Library experienced increases in circulation, enhanced Internet use and ran programs for patrons of all ages. The library hours were expanded, additional computers and Wi-Fi were added. Outreach programs included cooperative programs with schools, the Park District, local government and other organizations.

Schapiro, who holds a Master’s Degree in Library Service from Columbia University, previously worked in the library software industry and as a librarian at several colleges and universities.
