Meeting to Discuss TIF Plans, Prairie View Plaza Tonight

Have questions or concerns about proposed redevelopment plans for the Prairie View Plaza? 

A community meeting will be held tonight, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m., in the at 6140 Dempster St. to discuss the issue, as reported by the Morton Grove Champion.

Residents will be able to learn more about plans to establish a tax increment financing district (TIF) to help pay for improvements at the plaza.

Plans call for the demolishing and rebuilding of the plaza in stages as well as moving the buildings back 20 to 30 feet south to make room for more parking, according to the Champion.

TIF financing works by allowing increased tax revenue to be used to help pay for improvements in the area, while freezing the property taxes collected by other taxing districts.
