Morton Grove Gets Second Woman Trustee

Janine Witko now sits next to Trustee Maria Toth at village board meetings. Corporation Counsel Teresa Liston also sits on the panel the public sees at village board meetings.

After Morton Grove Mayor Dan DiMaria nominated Janine Witko as his choice for trustee to fill a vacant seat on the village board, Witko was seated at Monday's meeting.

She succeeds Tony Kalogerakos, who left his trustee position Sept. 9 because he and his wife moved to the town of Golf, just north of Morton Grove.

Witko has served on the Morton Grove Economic Development Commission, and until Monday, served on the village's Plan Commission. She also previously served on the Park View School District 70 school board.

"Mayor DiMaria chose an A+ candidate," said Trustee Bill Grear at Monday's meeting.

"I would like to welcome Trustee Witko to our family and make her aware we're all here to help in any way we can," said Trustee Shel Marcus.

Trustee John Pietron also welcomed her to the board, and recalled that Witko was very quiet when she first started on the Economic Development Committee, but he said now she offers a lot of good ideas.
