Niles Appoints Vinezeano Village Manager

The Niles village board reappointed its appointed officials at a regular meeting Tuesday, and also decided to remove the “Acting” from Acting Village Manager Steve Vinezeano’s name.
That makes him Village Manager Steve Vinezeano.
During the board’s discussion, Trustee Chris Hanusiak floated the idea of offering Vinezeano, who served as assistant village manager for years and as Acting Village Manager since George Van Geem, the former village manager, left in January, a four-year contract.
“We want him to live in the village, be part of the village,” Hanusiak said.
However, Trustee Joe LoVerde noted the board was discussing a one-year appointment for department heads, and said it could later take up the idea of a contract for the village manager.
“I agree with Joe,” said Trustee George Alpogianis. “Steve’s been here for 12 years, he is probably comfortable with a  one year agreement. Steve can get his ducks in a row, a year is breathing time for him--we hope he’ll move into the village.” Mayor Andrew Przybylo indicated the board could talk about a contract in the future.
