Niles' 'Best Place To Raise Kids' Marketing Campaign Continues In High Gear

Village is displaying the logo in many settings, raising awareness.

Niles is getting marketing mileage out of the "Best Affordable Place in the U.S. To Raise a Family" designation it received in December from Bloomburg/Business Week, the village's business coordinator, Denise McCreery, told the village board at its meeting Tuesday.

The village is putting up 60 banners with the award logo on Milwaukee Avenue, as well as painting it on 11 benches and putting it on four PACE bus shelters.

The village has placed the logo on its website, and it routinely appears on emails that are sent out.

In addition, the village has a traveling sign, about six feet across, mounted on an A-frame base, that is being displayed in various places around town. It appeared at the summer concert series in Niles' Oak Park, and is currently at the fountain at Milwaukee and Touhy Avenues.

On Friday, it will be displayed at the Windy City Car Show.

The village is also selling t-shirts with the logo for $5. They are available in size youth large at the Niles Teen Center and village hall.

On Sept. 24, the village will host an appreciation day for residents at the Niles Family Fitness Center and Senior Center, which are in the same building in Civic Center Plaza, at the southeast corner of Waukegan Road and Oakton Street.

McCreery said the free event will let residents use the pool and fitness facilities, make crafts and participate in other fun family activities.
