Niles Parks Seek New Commissioner

Interested in serving on the Niles Park District board? Commissioner Elaine Heinen will step down because she has moved out of the district. It is accepting resumes from interested applicants and will appoint a new commissioner.

If you have a desire to serve on the Niles Park District board, the district has an opening.

The park district is accepting resumes and cover letters from interested applicants, because longtime commissioner Elaine Heinen will be stepping down at the June 18 meeting, said Joe LoVerde, the district's executive director.

If the timing works out, board members may appoint the new commissioner at the June 18 meeting, at which Heinen's service will be recognized, LoVerde said.

Applicants may send resumes to Joann Raschillo at the park district at joannr@niles-parks.org.

LoVerde said the district is working on acquiring property on Caldwell Avenue, across from its Golf View Recreation Center, for a possible indoor recreation center.

It is also planning to remodel its Iceland Skate Complex. The project would include expanding the outdoor rink and putting a roof over it, LoVerde said.
