Seniors Can Get Discount on Morton Grove Vehicle Stickers

Morton Grove seniors were billed $55 for vehicle stickers, instead of the $25 senior rate, due to a vendor's error. The correct rate is $25, the village said.

Morton Grove seniors were overcharged for vehicle stickers due to an error by a village vendor, which processes the forms, said Village Administrator Ryan Horne.

The correct rate seniors should pay is $25, according to the village website.

"We are continuing the senior discount on vehicle licenses. If you’ve had a senior discount before you will get it again. The finance department is working on this," said Horne, apologizing to seniors for the inconvenience.

"I had an interesting conversation about this with my very own mother-in-law," he said at a village meeting this week.

The village needs to see proof of age to grant the senior discount.

"One of the ways is on the driver’s license.  That’s why you are asked to provide your driver’s license information. It helps us confirm it," Horne said.

The village grants one senior discount per household.

Horne estimated the village has received about 1,000 phone calls inquiring about the erroneous billing, according to the Pioneer Press.
