Summer Concert Series Debuts Friday In Niles

Family-friendly concerts feature rock n'roll, Motown, blues and 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s tunes.

Ready to pull out the camp chairs, pack a picnic and head to a bucolic setting to hear live music?

Niles' Summer Concerts kick off Friday at Oak Park (the park, not the town) at Main and Ottawa Streets, Niles. Each will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is appropriate for all ages. 

In fact, the kids can play on the playground while the adults do the toe-tapping.

The schedule follows. Concerts are sponsored by the Village of Niles and the Niles Park District.

Friday, July 15:

The Associates play Motown and a variety of music. It's also Penny Carnival Night. Bring pennies, and you can win prizes.

Friday July 22:

Soda plays rock n'roll. Explore large Niles village vehicles, and have car safety seats inspected.

Friday July 29:

The Sting Rays play 50s, 60s and 70s music. Kids can enjoy a petting farm and tractor-pulled wagon rides.

Friday, August 5:

The White Saddle Band plays country favorites and more. There'll be face painters and balloon artists.

Friday, August 12:

The Juke Box Band plays pop, rock, blues, country and jazz. 

Friday, August 19:

BBI plays 70s and 80s hits. PLEASE do not wear your white jumpsuit.:-)
