What Does Morton Grove Need? Village Seeks Your Opinion

Morton Grove hired a consultant to develop a strategic plan. It's asking residents to go to the interactive website to vision what they'd like the town to become.

Morton Grove is a little like Buzz Lightyear these day--at least in his favorite slogan, "To the Future...And Beyond."

The village board is trying to develop a vision for the future, and has hired a consultant, Houseal Lavigne Associate, to develop a strategic plan, which will set goals and priorities for Morton Grove for the next several years.

It has held two meetings seeking input from businesses and residents, and now is asking residents and business owners to visit the interactive website to state their preferences and ideas for what the village needs and should become.

“Input from the community is vital to the success of the strategic planning process,” said Village President Dan DiMaria. He added: “I encourage all residents and business owners to check out the website and provide us with your ideas and suggestions, and help us create a common mission and vision for the future of Morton Grove.”

Houseal Lavigne is in the data-gathering phase of the project, which includes traditional research as well as targeted focus group meetings, key stakeholder interviews and community and business workshop meetings.

The interactive website, which includes sMap, a web-based mapping tool, is another key component in the data gathering process. The strategic planning process is expected to take approximately 8-9 months.
