At about 9:00AM on Thursday, March 21st, in Brunswick, GA, a woman pushing a stroller with her baby in it were both shot. The mother survived the baby did not. The suspect, currently in custody, is one, DeMarquise Elkins, a 17 year old black guy. The victim's were white.
When something like this happens one of the questions that often surfaces is "Why"? As for the shooting of the mother, Sherry West, one answer could be that the shooter was angry because she had no moiney for him to rob. But why shoot the baby?
I think that deep down most of us know the answer however we have been indoctrinated into giving up basic sound judgement and common sense. It does not require deep analysis to understand that the child in the stroller was not the target of robbery, he posed no threat, he would not make a good witness at 13 months old, he was just laying in his stroller being a baby.
