Senate Hearings On Organized Crime And IRS Intimidation Similiar.

The Kefauver Senate Committee Hearings into Organized Crime in the early 50's uncovered strong implications that criminal syndicates were active throughout the country. Although the committee never actually justified such a claim, it was apparent that such syndicates existed. A major part of the problem preventing the senate committee from establishing proof was the invocation of the 5th Amendment by witnesses such as Tony Accardo, Mickey Cohen, Meyer Lansky, Paul Ricca and many of their acolytes.
Do the circumstances mentioned above strike a familiar cord with current congressional hearings, such as the IRS scandal? For example; No actionable proof uncovered to date, invocation of the of the 5th Amendment to avoid prosecution, yet a strong suspicion of nefarious activity.
I believe there is a similarity i.e., suggesting an organized attempt by the White House and the IRS to intimidate Americans.
Hopefully with some persistence information will be uncovered to warrant impeachment.
