Identity theft is a costly crime, it will make life miserable on you. Here are a few tips that may help limit your risk if your wallet or purse is lost or stolen. 1. Multiple credit cards: Carry just one card or a debit card. Try not to carry department store cards unless your going on a shopping trip. Thieves can often use department store without having to show identification. Try to keep a current inventory of all the cards you own so you can report them lost or stolen if necessary. 2. Your social nsecurity number: With this information thieves can open bank accounts and file false tax returns. 3. Checks: Try not to carry check books if you do not intend to use them they contain your bank routing number and account number. This information is valuable to thieves. 4. Documents with you personal informationL I believe that the best way to dicard documents such as bank statements, bills, etc., is by shredding.
