Winnetka Mansion was Priciest 2013 Cook Co. Sale

Chicago Magazine put together a list of the top 5 most expensive home sales last year. Winnetka led the list and a Glencoe home was in the No. 3 spot.

Multi-million home sales in the Chicago area have rebounded, according to Chicago Magazine, with 33 percent more sales in 2013 than in 2012.

In Cook Co., the biggest 2013 sale was the 15,000-square-foot Winnetka mansion sold to Dmitry Godin, the CEO of Interbank Mortgage, for $12.7 million, the article says. You can click through to see a few pictures of the 17-room French Colonial.

In the No. 3 spot was a Glencoe five-bedroom with a private beach that sold for $8 million.

Even outside of the multi-million stratosphere, home sales in Winnetka and Glencoe are doing well. A comparison of January 2014 to January 2013 shows the median sale price went up significantly in both towns.
