ABC7 Copter Captures Niles North Students On Field

Students spelled out 'Go Vikings,' and the copter shot the aerial view.

By Pam DeFiglio

Students began arriving at Niles North High School at 4:30 a.m. Friday for the promise of fame--and a donut.

The school asked students to arrive by 5:30 a.m. so an ABC7 news helicopter could film them making a formation on the football field. They first stood on the field grouped so that they spelled out "NNHS" from the air. Next, they formed "Go Vikings."  ABC 7 made two videos; they aired at 6:16 a.m. and 6:54 a.m.

Principal Ryan McTague was interviewed on one video and talked about how excited the football team, marching band an the whole school were about the Skokie Skirmish football game Saturday, against Niles West.

Teachers had promised students on Wednesday they would have 1,200 donuts on hand, and that the grade level with the most students attending would win a pizza party.
